SignatureCufflinks is owned by Signature Online Ltd. which operates a number of sites sharing the common goal of simplifying busy peoples’ important dates, such as birthdays and anniversaries.

This need and subsequent idea for the business first came to the two founders, Kevin Spindler and Mike Herbert during a meeting in Budapest in the summer of 2002. Mike was on business in Budapest and decided to look up his old colleague who had been living in Hungary for a number of years. The subject of conversation quickly came onto the joys and frustrations of working for large multi-nationals and how great it would be to set up their own business.

Setting up their own company had in-fact been a topic of conversation going back years, yet busy lives had not given them the time to sit back and explore ideas. The hour was coming to an end and the complaint about ‘not’ having time for anything but work, became a demonstrable fact when Mike suddenly remembered it was his wife’s birthday the next day.

Panic quickly turned to excitement as they both realised here was a great idea for a business.

Six months later, both Mike and Kevin left their respective companies to set up Signature Online Ltd. This manages a number of web sites, each focusing on a different GIFT category. Teaming up with a number of specialists and IT experts, the first sites went live in the summer of 2003.
